Rangers 4, Titans 2

Great game. Our boys dug really deep and despite taking a whole bunch of penalties, held off the Titans to hand this particular team its first playoff loss in several years, if not ever.

It's not going to be easy, but the Rangers can wrap it up in Almonte on Thursday night.
GO, RANGERS, GO! ...and don't forget to call Trainer Bob right after the game: 613-789-0606 ext. 2246 :-)

Game 1: Rangers 3, Titans 3

Truly bizarre night, thanks to a referee from some other planet.

One call he made was delay of game against one of our defencemen, who tried to fire the puck off the glass. It went over the glass -- which is low at the Carleton Place Arena -- by a fraction of an inch.

Later, Gurmanjot "G" Bhullar is on a breakaway, gets hauled down, and crashes into the net, knocking it off its moorings. The ref makes the proper call -- a penalty shot -- but says G has to sit for two minutes after taking the shot, for goaltender interference, because after he got hauled down, he got back up and dove into the goaltender. I had to ask the ref what game he was watching. Eighteen seconds into G's penalty, the Titans score the tying goal.

Also: He didn't get it right on who scored any of our goals, and even gave an assist to a player number we don't have. One more thing: He made a couple questionable calls against the Titans, too, but was heard after the game, telling the Titans coach he'll make it up to him.

Is it any wonder refs get crapped all over, when idiots like this get to wear the armbands???

Game two is tomorrow night at Armstrong Arena.

By the way, on something that really matters, our boys played a great game tonight, and should be very proud.

Rangers 3, Barons 0

...to win the series 6 pts. to 4.

Shutout to the awesome (Brett) Foster from Gloucester. Great playmaking from Stephen Fullum, and The Goal of the Year by Mcauley Banning. A good performance from the whole team!

Next opponents: Ottawa Valley Titans.

Barons 5, Rangers 2

Reasons and excuses are plentiful, but change nothing. We have one more chance tomorrow. Whoever wins the game wins the series and moves on to play the Ottawa Valley Titans.

Playoffs Game 1: Gloucester 4, Cumberland 2

Oh, I wish I could have been there! Trevor tells me the boys played a great game all around.
Game two tomorrow night, and I can be there!

Kanata Blazers 2, Gloucester Rangers 1

Coach Trevor tells me that it was a very good game, and that our team was in the Kanata end for 85 of the game's 90 minutes. It was two lucky goals that sunk us.

That's the final game of the regular season, and our record -- which you can see at the top of this blog -- isn't bad at all. I understand that it's a great improvement for the players who have been Rangers for a few years.

Bring on the playoffs -- please, just make the games be on days and times that Trainer Bob can attend!
